A highly personalised IB Diploma Programme experience in the heart of Milan

Since 2017, Collegio San Carlo has offered the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, an academically rigorous and challenging programme that is recognised in most countries of the world as a university entrance qualification.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is an internationally recognised programme, taught in English, which prepares students for higher education and is recognised by universities worldwide. Students do three subjects at High Level and three at Standard Level. The Diploma Core consists of an independently researched Extended Essay of 4,000 words, Theory of Knowledge which is an interdisciplinary course focusing on the nature, acquisition and development of knowledge, and the holistic, experiential learning Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme

Academics goals

1.

Develop critical thinkers

2.

Create global citizens

3.

Become life-long learners

4.

Identità personale

Two years of preparation for university and for life

The IB at CSC challenges students to reach their academic potential and to become the best person they can be.  As well as in their six subjects, students hone their research skills through the Extended Essay and develop their thinking skills in Theory of Knowledge.  The IB Learner Profile is fundamental in this as it encourages people to be Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced and Reflective,

Throughout the course, students acquire vital life-skills such as collaboration, time-management, organisation and planning which are crucial both for success in the Diploma Programme and beyond.

Experiential Learning: Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)

In CAS, the students enjoy and find significance in a range of different Experiences and reflect on them.  They identify goals, develop strategies, and determine actions for personal growth.  New possibilities and challenges are embraced and explored and students learn to adapt to new roles.  They actively participate in planned, sustained and collaborative CAS projects and understand they are members of local and global communities with responsibilities towards each other and the environment.
