Why have an admissions test?
Not only selection, but above all the identification of talents and an assessment of the compatibility between the vision of the Collegio and that of the family.
What does the entrance test involve
The candidate will do the tests assisted by teachers and the head of the Admissions Office. The candidates will take some short breaks and will be busy for approximately an hour and a half.
Candidates will be asked to take tests regarding three areas: logical-mathematical, Italian linguistics, Latin/Greek linguistics (where applicable), English linguistics and/or other foreign languages (where applicable). The test will be calibrated to last approximately one and a half hours. There will be a short break between one area and another and an interval halfway through the meeting activities.
In the event of insufficient test, a recovery program will be recommended to be paid by the family and agreed upon during the interview.
What skills are required
- Italian and Latin linguistic area, logical-mathematical area. The test will verify the skills achieved by the candidate relating to the school program of the class in which he could be included during the year
- English linguistic area. Competence in the four areas (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) will be assessed. The level to be considered is B2/C1 according to the parameters provided by the Council of Europe. The grading system
Each area has a maximum score of 100/100. Admission is subject to the test and school curriculum evaluation criteria outlined below.
For the Liceo delle Scienze Umane Interculturale (economic social):
It is mandatory to pass the test of:
– Italian linguistic area with at least 65/100;
– logical-mathematical area with at least 60/100;
– English language area with at least 70/100, with at least 70/100 oral.
For the Liceo Classico Interculturale:

– Italian linguistic area with at least 65/100;
– logical-mathematical area with at least 60/100;
– English language area with at least 70/100, with at least 70/100 oral.
For the Liceo Scientifico Interculturale:
It is mandatory to pass the test of:
– Italian linguistic area with at least 60/100;
– logical-mathematical area with at least 65/100;
– English language area with at least 70/100, with at least 75/100 oral.
For the Liceo Internazionale per l’Intercultura (four year):
It is mandatory to pass the test of:
– Italian linguistic area with at least 65/100;
– logical-mathematical area with at least 65/100;
– English language area with at least 70/100, with at least 80/100 oral.
The psycho-aptitude tests and the Personal statement
During the morning test, the candidate is also administered a battery of psycho-aptitude tests. These tests aim to gather information on the interests, skills, potential and aptitudes of each individual candidate. This profile will be useful, in the event of a positive acceptance of the admission application, when forming class groups.
The candidate is also required to personally draft a PS in PDF format written on the computer (or short manuals with scanned PDF) in which the student describes the previous course of study, the extra-curricular activities, the any certifications obtained in the linguistic and sporting fields, the reasons why he is applying to Collegio San Carlo, the expectations for the new school, hobbies and interests that facilitate the overall knowledge of personality and character.
After the test
How is the outcome of the admission procedure communicated?
The outcome of the appraisal is returned to the student and his parents, within 10 days of the test, through an online meeting set by the Collegio with the Admission Office representatives and the Principal of the chosen school. The tests will be visible during the interview and cannot be duplicated or forwarded to the family. No telephone information will be given. Candidates who have received an insufficient assessment in the English language area will be able to repeat the test only once approximately 30 days after the first test.
What can be done if you fail the tests?
Candidates who have received an insufficient assessment in one or more disciplines will be able to repeat each individual test only once at a time interval to be agreed with the Admission Office with which the learning objectives will be agreed.
It is also possible to enroll in the standard section if during the test phase an adequate score for the intercultural sections in English was not achieved, notwithstanding any different evaluations that came out during the interview.
